The Best Tennis Weather in August Is Indoors
If you have tried to play a set in Vero Beach at the end of August, you already know how it goes. You warm up, the humidity settles in, and by the third game a thunderhead is building over the mainland and everyone is packing up. Late summer on the Treasure Coast is beautiful, but it is not kind to an outdoor tennis schedule. That is exactly why our indoor tennis courts are one of the most underrated things at Vero Fitness. No sun, no rain delay, no wind pushing your toss around. Just the same conditions every single time you step on the court, which happens to be the fastest way to actually improve.
The Sport of a Lifetime
We call tennis the sport of a lifetime, and we mean it literally. It is one of the few games you can pick up at eight years old or sixty-eight years old and keep playing for decades. It builds cardiovascular endurance, footwork, balance, and hand-eye coordination all at once, and it does it while you are focused on the ball instead of counting reps. The social side matters just as much. Tennis at Vero Fitness is a standing appointment with people who will notice if you do not show up, and that kind of accountability keeps people playing far longer than willpower ever does.
However You Learn Best, There Is a Way In
Not everyone comes to tennis the same way, so we do not offer just one path. Private lessons give you focused, one-on-one attention from our tennis staff if you want to rebuild a stroke or start completely from scratch. Our clinics run for all levels, so you are learning alongside players who are working on the same things you are. If you would rather just play, we host round-robins and mixer tournaments regularly throughout the month, and we can arrange games for you so you are never stuck hunting for a fourth. Leagues and tournaments are there when you are ready for something with a little more on the line.
Practice Without a Partner
One of the quiet advantages of playing here is the Playmate ball machine. Nothing accelerates progress like repetition, and the machine lets you hit hundreds of balls to the same spot without needing anyone else's schedule to line up with yours. Groove a forehand, drill your approach shots, work on a backhand you have been avoiding for years. Twenty focused minutes with the ball machine before a match will change how your game feels.
Train for Tennis, Not Just at Tennis
Tennis asks a lot of your body: rotation, lateral movement, repeated overhead loading, and constant stopping and starting. The players who stay healthy season after season are usually the ones putting in work off the court too. Because your membership covers the whole 58,000 square foot club, that work is right down the hallway. Build rotational power and quickness in our Sports Performance Training studio, strengthen your legs and posterior chain in the Powerlifting Gym, or take a mobility-focused class from our live schedule to keep your shoulders and hips moving well. Afterward, the pools, hot tub, and saunas are waiting.
Come Hit a Few
You do not need to be good at tennis to start playing tennis. You just need a court and someone to help you get going, and we have both. Learn more on our tennis page, and if you are not a member yet, come see the courts and the rest of the club for yourself and try us free. We will find you a game.
