Why Summer Is the Right Time to Learn to Swim

In Vero Beach, water is part of everyday life. Between backyard pools, the pool at the gym, community splash days, and the ocean just minutes away, your child is going to be around water all summer long. That is exactly why learning to swim is one of the most important things you can give them, and July is the perfect time to start. Warm weather makes practice comfortable and consistent, and the earlier your child builds real water skills, the sooner they can enjoy the water with confidence instead of fear.
Swimming is a life skill first and a sport second. The comfort and safety your child develops in the pool this summer will stay with them for the rest of their life, and at Vero Fitness, we make learning it safe, patient, and genuinely fun.

Lessons for Every Age and Every Comfort Level
Our children's swim lessons are built to meet your child exactly where they are. Every course is designed to teach the fundamentals of swimming in a fun and patient environment, and we pride ourselves on being progressive without being terrifying. We cater to your child's individual strengths, so a nervous first-timer and a confident young swimmer both get the encouragement and the challenge that fits them best.
Lessons are open to children six months and up, which means you can begin building water safety habits early. For our youngest swimmers, our Mommy and Me classes bring a parent into the water alongside an instructor to learn how to teach water safety and primary skills like back floats, submersions, roll-over breathing, and simple water play. It is a gentle, connected way to introduce your little one to the pool.
Private and Semi-Private Swim Options
As your child grows, the format can grow with them. Private lessons pair one child with one instructor, so your swimmer gets more feedback and undivided attention. Students generally progress at a faster and steadier rate this way, and all of our private instructors are skilled across every level of swimming. Parents are welcome to watch, though we ask that you stay out of sight so your child can focus fully on the instructor.
If your child does well with a little company, our semi-private lessons let two students of similar age and ability learn together while still receiving personal attention. The two swimmers observe one another and stay active throughout the lesson, which keeps things engaging. These pairings are arranged by our instructors to make sure each child is matched with the right partner.
Certified Instructors You Can Trust
The heart of any good swim program is the people teaching it, and ours are experienced and certified. Megan Cirillo and Natajia Markovic lead our children's swim lessons with years of experience and a patient, encouraging approach that helps kids feel safe from their very first splash. Lessons take place in our comfortable indoor pool and are offered every day from 8:30am to 6:30pm, so it is easy to find a time that works for your family's summer schedule.
